Angela Alea: I'm your host, Angela Alea, this week's episode is going to be brief, but probably one of the most important episodes we'll ever do. Some of you may have seen that this week we announced the industry's first-ever National Crew Appreciation Week that we're going to hold November 7th through November 11th.

So let me tell you why I think this could [00:01:00] be the most important episode we will ever do. It is no surprise to us that our industry doesn't have enough people to execute on the demand of events right now.

I don't think any of us have ever experienced the supply and demand constraints that we have. It also probably won't surprise you to know that the people who are showing up to make these events happen are working tirelessly, incredibly long hours.

Many are living out of a suitcase and they're all sacrificing time with their families. And we also know that these people never receive the accolades they deserve. As a matter of fact, they're usually behind the scenes. Overlooked referred to as labor, and they're never in the spotlight. They never get that opportunity yet.

These are the ones who are actually making the magic happen. So we at Lasso wanted to change that, which is why we are dedicating an entire week for our industry to show these people some love and we need your help. [00:02:00]

So we wanna celebrate the people who work tirelessly to make events happen, and it's part of the backbone of what we at LASSO do, and we need you, the event community, to not only join us in doing so, but we want you to play a gigantic part in this.

We're asking for all event companies nationwide to publicly show their love and support and appreciation for their crew the week of November 7th through the 11th. So be thinking of who on your rosters embody one or.

Of the following, because we're gonna be naming five winners in five different categories. There's also gonna be lots of other prizes and accolades and a lot of cash prizes. I wanna say that again. Lots and lots of cash prizes. So we're really trying to do this right. Um, so these are the five categories.

Number one's the MOPRO Award, the most professional. These are the people who always show up on time and dressed [00:03:00] appropriately. They're typically great communicators and you really can put these people in front of your clients, so that's the most professional.

We also have the Top Team Mate Award. They typically are the ones that can build comradery with the crew. They're always looking for ways to jump in and help their teammates. They do whatever it takes to make it happen, and they're kind of that name that you always hope to see on every roster because they're always full of optimism, which kind of spreads to everybody else on the roster.

The third one's the Technical Titan Award. These are the people who just have that technical skill set. They're the master of their craft. They handle high-stress situations, doesn't even phase them. They've seen it all and there's really nothing they can't do. So that's our technical Titan Award.

The fourth one is our Fearless Leader Award. These are the people that take initiative at the show site. They're great at orchestrating things. They're calm under pressure. They have a positive attitude that's infectious. They look for responsibilities, and they're typically great [00:04:00] communicators.

And last but not least is the Count on Me Award. These are the people who are reliable. They have a high sense of accountability. They actually do what they say they're going to do. They always deliver, and they're steady and loyal. So these are just a few of the words we're gonna be giving out, but every time you celebrate somebody, be sure to do it with the following.

I'm going to give you some instructions. It's really important because one, I wanna make sure these people, are celebrated publicly and there's some things you can do as a company too, to celebrate your people just as an organization.

But when you do these things, each person who is called out is going to be entered too. Lots of cash prizes. There's over $10,000 that we're giving out in addition to prizes. So here's what we need you to do. Post on all of your social channels, Be sure to use the hashtag #NationalCrewAppreciationWeek so we can track all of the accolades.

We also want you to tag the crew member's [00:05:00] name. Very important because each time a person is tagged and their name is mentioned publicly, they will be entered into the. also really important to indicate why you're celebrating them. I think that's what's so great and will help educate people on just how great our industry is.

I always love hearing the success stories of what happens on-site when something goes awry and then all of a sudden one of these people step in and they save the day. And so indicate why you're celebrating them and how they embody one of these awards that we're giving. and then extra brownie points for those of you who want to post videos expressing your gratitude and why you think they're so amazing in one of these categories.

So obviously, in addition to social posts and public praise, there's other gestures and things you can do to show your crew how much you love and appreciate them that week you, there's happy hours. There's lunches you can give away your company swag. You can write handwritten thank you notes, do thank you videos.

There's so many things you can do that don't take a lot of time or effort [00:06:00] that really go a long way with these people. So make sure you spend the time thinking about that. So reach out to us if you have any questions about this or if you plan to participate, please post photos. That hashtag. So again, the hashtag is National Crew Appreciation Week.

Follow us on LinkedIn, Facebook, Instagram, all those to stay in the loop. we're going to be sending out more information, so just keep an eye out for those.

In the meantime, be thinking about who you want to nominate and why, but please join us as we all work hard to show our appreciation. As we always say around here, every event experience is only as good as the people who make it happen.
